Scope
GB 19079.11-2005 is the English-translated version of 体育场所开放条件与技术要求 第11部分:漂流场所.
GB 19079.11-2005, Part 11 of the GB 19079 series on the opening of sports venues, specifies the basic conditions and technical requirements that rafting places must meet before opening, and applies to all rafting places open to the public.
It defines rafting, rafting place, rafting equipment, rafting river, rapids, guide and passenger, and requires guides, lifeguards and security staff to hold national professional qualifications.
Site requirements cover obstacle-free rivers with water level and warning signs and rescue points, landing stages with toilets, changing rooms, broadcasting, parking and GB/T 10001.1 signs, and rafting equipment with life jackets to JT/T 107 or GB 4303 according to the rapids grade, annual inspection, lifelines and rescue lines of at least 5 m.
Safety rules set guide-to-boat and guide-to-passenger ratios of 1:1 and 1:5 on grade III rapids and above, age limits for children, helmets, weather restrictions and a ban on rafting places on grade V rapids and above, while informative Annex A describes the six grades of rapids.
