GB/T 21196.2-2025 is the English-translated version of 纺织品 马丁代尔法织物耐磨性的测定 第2部分：试样破损的测定.
This part of the Martindale abrasion series specifies a test method for the abrasion resistance of fabrics in which the end point is specimen breakdown. It is applicable to all textile fabrics, including nonwovens and coated fabrics, but not to fabrics that are specifically identified as having a shorter abrasion life. For coated fabrics, defined as those with at least one continuous polymer layer, the coated side is treated as the wear side.
It is used by textile mills, apparel and upholstery manufacturers, technical textile producers, brand owners and testing laboratories when they need to compare durability or verify supplier claims. Furniture and automotive interior fabric buyers frequently set abrasion requirements, so a defined breakdown method is valuable.
The standard was issued on 28 February 2025 and takes effect on 1 March 2027, replacing GB/T 21196.2-2007. It is a recommended national standard, so it is voluntary unless required by contract or product specification.

GB/T 21196.2-2025 is a recommended national standard (GB/T) of the People's Republic of China, issued on 28 February 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China, with effect from 1 March 2027.
This edition replaces GB/T 21196.2-2007.
The document adopts an international standard (ISO or IEC).
It is under the responsibility of the China National Textile and Apparel Council.
