This part is Part 8 of GB/T 20975.

This section was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This part replaces GB/T 20975.8-2008 "Methods for Chemical Analysis of Aluminum and Aluminum Alloy Part 8: Determination of Zinc Content", and Compared with GB/T 20975.8-2008, in addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

---Added standard use safety warning;

--- Added "Normative Reference Documents" (see Chapter 2);

--- Added "Terms and Definitions" (see Chapter 3);

---Modified the Na2EDTA titration method, using sodium fluoride, ammonium fluoride, thiourea, sodium hexametaphosphate to mask interference ions such as aluminum, iron, copper, and manganese, Use hexamethylenetetramine as buffer, xylenol orange-methine blue as indicator, and titrate zinc with Na2EDTA standard titration solution (See Chapter 4, Chapter 2 of the 2008 edition);

---Added requirements for reagents and water used in analysis (see 4.2 and 5.2);

---Modified the precision of flame atomic absorption spectrometry (see 5.7, Chapter 17 of the 2008 edition);

--- Added "Test Report" (see Chapter 6).

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 20975 specifies the Na2EDTA titration and flame atomic absorption spectrometry for the determination of zinc in aluminum and aluminum alloys. content.

This section applies to the arbitration determination of zinc content in aluminum and aluminum alloys. Na2EDTA titration method determination range. 2.00%~14.00%; fire Flame atomic absorption spectrometry measurement range. 0.0010%~14.00%.

The Na2EDTA titration method is not suitable for alloys with lead content greater than 0.01% or cobalt content greater than 0.05%.

Note: When the zinc mass fraction is >2.00%~14.00%, flame atomic absorption spectrometry is used as the arbitration method.

4 Na2EDTA titration method

4.1 Method summary

The sample was dissolved with a mixed acid of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. Use sodium fluoride, ammonium fluoride, thiourea, sodium hexametaphosphate to mask interference elements such as aluminum, iron, copper, and manganese, Use hexamethylenetetramine as a buffer, xylenol orange-methine blue as an indicator, and use Na2EDTA standard titration solution to titrate zinc to determine Zinc content.

4.2 Reagents

Unless otherwise stated, only reagents and laboratory tertiary water confirmed to be analytically pure are used in the analysis.

4.2.1 Ammonia (rho=0.90g/mL).

4.2.2 Hydrochloric acid (1 1).

4.2.3 Hydrochloric acid-nitric acid mixed acid. Measure 300mL hydrochloric acid (11) and 50mL nitric acid (11) and mix.

4.2.4 Saturated sodium fluoride solution.

4.2.5 Ammonium fluoride solution (300g/L).
