Introduction

Electrically sensitive protective devices (ESPEs) are suitable for machinery that poses a risk of injury to humans. They can restore the machinery to its original state before a person is in a dangerous situation.

To reach a safe state, thereby providing protection.

This document specifies the special requirements for the design, manufacture, and testing of electrically sensitive protective devices (ESPEs) used as mechanical protection equipment.

This applies only to ESPEs that use active photoelectric protection devices (AOPDs) to perform sensitive functions.

Each type of machinery has its own specific hazards, and this document is not intended to recommend the use of electrically sensitive protective devices (ESPEs) on any particular type of machinery.

For the purpose of application, the use of electrically sensitive protective devices (ESPEs) should be jointly coordinated among the suppliers of such devices, the users of the machinery, and the mandatory regulatory authorities.

Regarding this point, it is necessary to pay attention to relevant guidelines that have been formulated both domestically and internationally, such as GB/T 15706-2012.

GB/T 19436 is proposed to consist of four parts.

---Part 1: General Requirements and Tests. For non-contact electrically sensitive protective devices specifically designed for detecting the human body or parts thereof.

ESPE (Enhanced Safety Specifications) defines general requirements for product design, manufacturing, and testing to ensure that electrically sensitive protection devices meet the necessary safety performance levels.

The aim is to improve the overall safety level of mechanical and electrical equipment and protect the personal safety of employees.

---Part 2: Special Requirements for Equipment Using Active Optoelectronic Protection Devices (AOPDs). Building upon Part 1, this section outlines specific requirements for equipment using...

Active photoelectric protection devices (ESPEs) further specify special requirements for product design, manufacturing, and testing.

Ensure that such electrical sensitive protection devices (ESPEs) meet specific usage requirements.

---Part 3: Special Requirements for Equipment Using Active Optoelectronic Diffuse Reflection Protection Devices (AOPDDR). Based on Part 1 the document further specifies the product design, manufacturing, and testing requirements for electrically sensitive protection devices (ESPEs) that use active photoelectric diffuse reflection protection devices.

Special requirements for testing ensure that such electrical sensitive protection devices (ESPEs) meet specific usage needs.

---Part 4: Special Requirements for the Use of Visual Protection Devices (VBPDs). Building upon Part 1, this section outlines specific requirements for the use of visual protection devices (VBPDs).

Electrically sensitive protective devices (ESPEs) further specify special requirements for product design, manufacturing, and testing to ensure the safety of such electrically sensitive devices.

ESPE (Enhanced Safety Equipment) meets specific usage requirements.

Given the complexity of Electrically Sensitive Protective Equipment (ESPE) technology, many issues heavily rely on the analysis and expertise of specific testing and measurement techniques.

Knowledge. To ensure a high level of credibility, it is recommended that the document be independently reviewed by relevant experts.

This document is used in conjunction with GB/T 19436.1-2025.

This document supplements or modifies the relevant clauses in Part 1: If a clause in Part 1 is not mentioned in this document, then that clause...

Applicable to a reasonable extent. If this document is marked "supplementary," "modified," or "replaced," adjustments should be made when referencing the corresponding content in Part 1.

The clauses newly added to this document compared to Part 1 are numbered sequentially after the last existing number in Part 1: Compared to the new terms added in Part 1 (see Chapter 3) are numbered starting with 3.201.The new appendices are numbered sequentially starting with AA.
