Scope
GB/T 18801-2022 is the English-translated version of 空气净化器.
GB/T 18801-2022 is the product standard for household air cleaners, and it is the document that made the market comparable. Air cleaners are sold on claims a buyer cannot check — how much air they actually clean, of what, how quickly, and for how long before the filter stops working — and before a standard defined those quantities the numbers on the box meant whatever the manufacturer wanted. This standard fixes them: the clean air delivery rate for particulates and for formaldehyde, the cumulative clean mass that says how much a filter can absorb before it is spent, and the noise at which the machine delivers its rated performance, which is the figure that decides whether it is usable in a bedroom. It also covers what a cleaner must not do, since some technologies generate ozone. The document specifies terms and definitions, classification and model designation, requirements, test conditions, test methods, inspection rules, marking, instructions for use, packaging, transport and storage. Under CCS Y62, it is written for appliance manufacturers, for testing and certification bodies, and for the retailers and consumer bodies who compare products against a common measure.

Foreword
This document was issued on 12 October 2022 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of the PRC and takes effect on 1 May 2023.
It is a GB/T standard: recommended rather than compulsory, but it is the text a Chinese reviewer applies when assessing a submission.
1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, classification and model

(normative)
Test method for clean air delivery rate of particulate matter
A.1 Test principle
The principle of this test is based on the "decay method". In a relatively closed space,
under the action of the air cleaner, the concentration of particulate matter follows the
law of exponential decay with the cleaning time. Function fitting can be performed on
the test time and the corresponding concentration in the test. Calculate the clean air
delivery rate.
A.2 Test conditions
A.2.1 Special measuring instruments
Laser dust particle counters shall meet the following requirements.
- The test particle size range shall include 0.3um~10um;
- The measuring range of the instrument shall meet 106 L-1 (if the measuring range
cannot be reached, a suitable diluter shall be configured; or an instrument of the
same level that has been calibrated).
A.2.2 Standard target pollutants
Particles. Cigarette smoke. The amount of tar is 8mg, expressed as the total number of
particles above 0.3um.
Particulate matter generation can adopt the generation principle shown in Figure A.1 or
other generation methods with equivalent effects.
