Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 17617-1998 "Rule of sampling and inspection for
refractory raw materials".
Compared with GB/T 17617-1998, the main technical changes of this standard are as
follows.
- In the scope of the standard, CANCEL the content related to the sampling of
"amorphous refractory materials"; EXPAND the original single "sampling" to
"sampling inspection" (see Chapter 1);
- REVISE the original terms and definitions; ADD some necessary terms and
definitions (see Chapter 3);
- RETAIN the sampling scheme based on the coefficient of variation as the basis for
sampling, as the sampling method for "bulk refractory raw materials"; MAKE
supplementing and revision of them (see 5.4);
- ADD the relevant provisions for the laboratory to separate the samples for quality
characteristics testing from the original laboratory samples (see 5.7.2);
- ADD the relevant content of product quality assessment based on sample test
results (see 5.9);
- ADD the sampling inspection scheme for packaged particle size graded materials
(see Chapter 6);
- SUPPLEMENT and MODIFY the content of sampling inspection precision
analysis in the original standard text, as a normative appendix of this standard (see
Appendix C);
- DELETE the Appendix "Empirical categories of coefficient of variation of testing
performance of monolithic refractory materials" of the 1998 edition;
- ADD the normative Appendix on empirical estimation of coefficient of variation
of sample quality characteristics of refractory raw materials (see Appendix D);
- RETAIN the Appendix on the method of sample reduction of refractory raw
materials; MAKE necessary revisions (see Appendix E).
This standard modifies and adopts ISO 8656-1.1988 "Refractory products - Sampling
of raw materials and unshaped products - Part 1.Sampling scheme" by redrafting
method. Compared with ISO 8656-1.1988, this standard has more structural
adjustments. Appendix A lists the comparison of chapter and article numbers between
this standard and ISO 8656-1.1988; Appendix B lists the main technical differences
between this standard and ISO 8656-1.1988.
The following editorial modifications have been made for ease of use.
- MODIFY the name of standard.
This standard was proposed by AND shall be under the jurisdiction of the National
Technical Committee for Standardization of Refractory Materials (SAC/TC 193).

1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, general principles, sampling
inspection of bulk refractory raw materials, sampling inspection of packaged particle
size graded materials, sampling inspection reports, etc. for sampling inspection of
refractory raw materials.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated
documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document;
for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) is
applicable to this standard.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions, as defined in GB/T 18930, as well as the following terms
and definitions, apply to this document.
When sampling and testing bulk refractory raw materials, all the increments taken
from a part of the inspection batch of products and mixed together, to obtain a
sample to represent the part of the products.
4 General
During sampling, sample preparation, sample transfer and storage, care shall be
taken not to change the test performance of the original state of the material, and to
prevent any change in the properties to be tested. For example, when collecting samples
for moisture detection, the sampler shall be made of non-hygroscopic materials,
meanwhile the sample shall be sealed immediately after collection.
5 Sampling inspection of bulk refractory raw materials
For bulk refractory raw materials that have not been graded, the products of a delivery
batch shall be inspected in batches according to the following conditions.
6 Sampling inspection of packaged particle size graded materials
Packaged refractory raw materials shall be inspected in batches according to the
following requirements.
7 Sampling inspection report
The report shall include the following contents.
Appendix A
(Informative)
Correspondence of chapter and clause numbers between this standard and ISO
8656-1.1988
Appendix B
(Informative)
Technical differences between this standard and ISO 8656-1.1988
Appendix C
Supplement and modify the contents of sampling
inspection precision analysis in the original standard
text, as a normative appendix of this standard
Convenient to use
Appendix D
Add a normative appendix specifically for the empirical
estimation of the coefficient of variation of the quality
characteristics of refractory raw materials
Convenient to use
Appendix E
Delete the original Appendix "Method of taking
increments"; ADD the appendix of the method of
reducing the sample of refractory raw materials
Meet the needs of sampling inspection
of refractory raw materials
Appendix C
(Normative)
Calculation of standard deviation and precision of sampling inspection
When the standard deviation of each process of sampling inspection of a certain quality
characteristic of refractory raw materials is unknown, several batches of the same
products can be sampled and inspected according to the procedures and requirements
set below, to calculate the standard deviation of each process of product sampling
inspection.
