Scope
GB/T 14982-2008 is the English-translated version of 粘土质耐火泥浆.
China's national product standard for fireclay refractory mortar - the material that joins refractory bricks in a furnace lining. It specifies the classification, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the marking, packaging, transport and storage of fireclay refractory mortars. The mortar is the smallest part of a lining and the one that limits its life. A brick lining is only as good as its joints: the joint is where hot gas, slag or metal penetrates, where thermal movement concentrates, and where a lining begins to fail. And the mortar is not simply a filler - it has to behave enough like the brick for the two to move together, which means its refractoriness, its thermal expansion and its composition must match the brick it is bedding, or it will spall out and leave an open joint the first time the furnace cycles. That is why refractory mortars are classified and sold to match the brick class rather than as a general-purpose product. The standard therefore covers the classification by refractoriness and by bonding type - the air-setting mortars that harden by a chemical bond at ambient temperature and the heat-setting ones that develop strength only when fired - and sets the requirements: the refractoriness, the chemical composition, the particle size, the workability and water demand, the bonding time, the cold and hot bonding strength, and the linear change on reheating, which is what determines whether the joint stays tight. The test methods and the sampling and acceptance rules complete it. Issued on 30 October 2008 and in force since 1 July 2009, it replaces GB/T 14982-1994.

Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 14982-1994 "Fireclay refractory mortar". Compared with GB/T 14982-1994, the main technical differences of this standard are as follows: -- Modify the refractoriness indicator; -- Designation of phosphate binding refractory mortar is changed by P; -- Adjust the heating permanent linear-change rate for designations NN-30 and NN-38; -- Adjust the heating permanent linear-change test-temperature for designations NN-42, NN-45 and NN-45P. This standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of National Refractory Material Standardization Technical Committee. Drafting organizations of this standard. 1 Application Scope
China's national product standard for fireclay refractory mortar - the material that joins refractory bricks in a furnace lining. 3 Classification
Fireclay refractory mortar, according to physiochemical properties, are divided into 5 designations. NN-30, NN-42, NN-45, NN-45P. N and N represent the first letters of
6.1 Group-batch
6.1.1 Products are batched according to the same designation in a continuous normal production. When there are changes in raw materials or production processes, then it shall be batched separately.
6.1.2 For the same-designation products, the maximum amount of each batch is 60 tons.
6.2 Sampling Fireclay refractory mortar's sampling shall be in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 17617.
6.3 Determination rules Refractoriness, room temperature flexural bond strength, load softening temperature are the acceptance test items. When all the inspection results comply with the values specified in Table 1, then this batch of products are deemed as qualified. When the inspection results have failed items, it shall re-sample double-quantity according to
6.2 to conduct re-inspection. If single-value of re-inspection results complies with the provisions in Table 1, then it is determined that this batch of products are qualified; otherwise, it is determined as unqualified batch.
6.4 Form of conformity evaluation Conformity evaluation may adopt declaration by the supplier, verification by the receiving party, or authentication by third party.
7 Packaging, marking, transportation, storage and quality
7.1 Packaging, marking, transportation and storage shall comply with GB/T 15545.
7.2 The liquid binder may be packaged in plastic drums and delivered separately.
