Scope
GB/T 17912-2014 is the English-translated version of 回转窑用耐火砖形状尺寸.
China's national dimensional standard for the refractory bricks that line a rotary kiln. It specifies the numbering and the dimensions of rotary kiln bricks, the brick sizes, and the dimensional and design characteristics of the kiln lining ring, and it applies to the working lining of rotary kilns in cement, in metallurgical lime and light-burned dolomite, in refractories, in iron ore pelletising and in non-ferrous metallurgy. A rotary kiln lining is a problem in geometry before it is a problem in materials. The lining is a ring of wedge-shaped bricks built inside a rotating cylinder, held in place by nothing but its own compression - there is no mortar carrying load and no mechanical fixing. The ring closes on itself, and if it does not close exactly the lining is loose; a loose ring in a kiln turning under thermal cycling works itself apart and falls out, which stops the kiln and can burn through the shell. Closing the ring requires bricks of the correct taper for the kiln diameter, in a combination of sizes that sums exactly to the circumference, with the closing keys sized to take up what is left. That is what this standard provides: a numbered series of brick shapes with defined taper and dimensions, and the tables from which a bricklayer or an engineer determines which shapes and how many of each are needed to close a ring of a given kiln diameter. Standardising the shapes means a kiln can be relined with bricks from any qualified supplier, and a plant can keep one set of spares rather than one per supplier. Issued on 9 June 2014 and in force since 1 December 2014, it replaces GB/T 17912-1999.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules. This standard replaces GB/T 17912-1999 "kiln with bricks shapes and sizes." Compared with GB/T 17912-1999, the major change Of the following.
--- Modify the scope of cement, lime metallurgy, light burned dolomite, refractory materials, iron pellets and non-ferrous metallurgy rotary kiln Working lining;
--- Modify the number and size of brick sizes;
--- Modify the other intermediate size 75mm rotary kiln bricks;
--- Increasing the size of 100mm and other big-endian brick kiln;
--- Increasing the brick kiln special locks;
--- Using the like wedge size difference brick kiln and double-wedge brick brick ring;
--- Modify the brick kiln lined with masonry and program design calculations rotary kiln and set as Appendix A. This standard specifies the calculation brick kiln brick size number and sizes, brick size and the size and characteristics of the kiln lining with puzzle design. This standard applies to cement, metallurgy lime and light burned dolomite, refractory materials, iron pellets and non-ferrous metallurgy rotary kiln shell lining work.
