Scope
GB/T 16637-2008 is the English-translated version of 轻型燃气轮机电气设备通用技术要求.
GB/T 16637-2008 specifies the technical requirements for the electrical equipment supplied with light gas turbine packages and gives guiding principles for its procurement and selection.
It applies to gas turbine equipment for power generation; mechanical-drive units may refer to it, but it does not cover gas turbines that directly power vehicles or ships.
The main power supply system is treated item by item: generator design, air cooling and temperature and vibration monitoring; the excitation system with its regulators (steady-state accuracy within ±0.5 %), limiters, compensators, response ratio and field disconnection; operating modes and synchronising devices; bus connections; circuit breakers; surge protection; neutral grounding; voltage and current transformers; disconnectors and load switches; and relay protection and control, with further requirements for the rest of the electrical installation.
It replaces GB/T 16637-1996: normative references and bus connection performance requirements have been added, the requirements for obsolete oil circuit breakers and nickel-cadmium batteries have been deleted, and grounding of equipment in explosive gas atmospheres has been revised.

Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 16637-1996, General requirements for light gas turbine electrical equipment.
Compared with GB/T 16637-1996, the main changes of this standard are as follows:
- normative references have been added (Clause 2 of this edition);
- performance requirements for bus connections have been supplemented (4.5 of this edition);
- the requirements relating to obsolete oil circuit breaker products have been deleted (4.5 and 4.9.2 of the 1996 edition);
- the requirements relating to nickel-cadmium storage battery products have been deleted (6, 6.1 and 6.3 of the 1996 edition);
- the grounding requirements for electrical equipment in hazardous areas with explosive gas atmospheres have been modified (5.4 of this edition).
