Foreword

This document was issued on 30 December 2022 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of the PRC and takes effect on 1 July 2023.

It is a GB/T standard: recommended rather than compulsory, but it is the text a Chinese reviewer applies when assessing a submission.

1 Scope

GB/T 15681-2022 covers flaxseed as a traded commodity - the seed of the flax plant, defined in the terms clause, and the framework under which a lot of it is graded, checked, labelled and moved. Quality requirements and the inspection methods used to verify them occupy clauses 4 and 5; the inspection rules in clause 6 take their general procedure from GB/T 5490 and define how an inspection batch is constituted, which is what decides whether a sample result can be attributed to the consignment standing in front of the buyer. Labelling requires the product name, the grade, the place of origin, the harvest year and the country of production to appear on the packaging or in the accompanying documents - facts that a contract turns on and that no laboratory test can recover once the lot has been blended. Packaging must be clean, firm and undamaged, tightly sealed and strong, free of leakage, and must not carry contamination or an abnormal odour into the product; storage and transport are treated in the same clause. Written for flaxseed growers and traders, oil crushers and food processors buying seed, grain inspection laboratories, and anyone drafting a purchase specification or an acceptance protocol for an incoming lot.

This document defines the relevant terms of flaxseed, specifies the quality requirements,

inspection rules, labeling and marking, packaging, storage and transportation, etc., and

describes the inspection methods.

This document is applicable to the acquisition, storage, transportation, trade and processing of

flaxseed.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.

3.1 flaxseed

Flaxseed refers to the seed of the flax plant.
