This Part is Part 4-1 of GB/T 14048.

This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This Part replaces GB/T 14048.4-2010 "Low-voltage switchgear and control gear - Part

4-1.Contactors and motor-starters - Electromechanical contactors and motor-starters

(Including motor protector)". Compared with GB/T 14048.4-2010, the main technical

changes in this Part are as follows.

- Modify the definition of reversing starter.

- Add relevant requirements and tests for motor protective switching device MPSD.

- Add some requirements concerning safety aspects, including.

 General;

 Circuits sourced from limited energy sources;

 Electronic circuits;

 Assessment procedure for electromechanical overload protection device used

in safety applications (see Annex L).

- In order to adapt to the use conditions of motors with higher energy efficiency, add

the relevant regulations for high locked rotor current.

- Add requirements for special wiring accessories.

- Add measurement of pick-up power consumption.

- Be consistent with the latest content of IEC 60947-1A2.2014.

- Add relevant DC requirements for PV applications (see Annex M).

- Add the content of load monitoring (see Annex O).

- Add the co-ordination under short-circuit conditions between a MPSD and another

short-circuit protective device in the same circuit (see Annex Q).

- Delete the previous Annex J - Communication function of electronic overload relay.

This Part uses the redraft law to modify and adopt IEC 60947-4-1.2018 "Low-voltage

switchgear and controlgear - Part 4-1.Contactors and motor-starters -

Electromechanical contactors and motor-starters".

The technical differences between this Part and IEC 60947-4-1.2018 and their reasons

are as follows.

- As for the normative references, this Part has made adjustments with technical

differences, to adapt to the technical conditions of China. The adjustments are

mainly reflected in Clause 2 "Normative references". The specific adjustments are

as follows.

 Replace IEC 60034-1.2017 with GB/T 755-2019 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60034-12.2016 with GB/T 21210-2016 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60034-30-1 with GB/T 32891.1 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60038 with GB/T 156 which modifies and adopts the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60068-2-14.2009 with GB/T 2423.22-2012 which is identical to

the international standard;

 Replace IEC 60079-14 with GB/T 3836.15-2017 which modifies and adopts

the international standard;

 Replace IEC 60085.2007 with GB/T 11021-2014 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60364-1.2005 with GB/T 16895.1-2008 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60364-7-712 with GB/T 16895.32 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60730-1 with GB/T 14536.1 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 60947-1.2007+AMD1.2010 with GB/T 14048.1-2012 which

modifies and adopts the international standard;

 Replace IEC 60947-2.2019 with GB/T 14048.2-2020 which modifies and

adopts the international standard;

 Replace IEC 60947-5-1.2016 with GB/T 14048.5-2017 which modifies and

adopts the international standard;

 Replace IEC 61051-2 with GB/T 10194 which is identical to the international

standard;

 Replace IEC 61140.2016 with GB/T 17045-2008 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace IEC 61810-1 with GB/T 21711.1-2008 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace ISO 2859-1.1999 with GB/T 2828.1-2012 which is identical to the

international standard;

 Replace ISO 3864-2 with GB/T 2893.2 which modifies and adopts the

international standard;

 Add reference to GB/T 2423.2-2008;

 Add reference to GB/T 3956-2008;

 Add reference to GB/T 14048.3-2017;

 Add reference to GB 21518.

- Electrical equipment with an AC rated voltage of 1140 V may refer to this Part.

The requirements such as performance of the relevant electrical equipment shall be

determined through negotiation between the manufacturer and the user.

- According to the provisions of GB/T 156-2017, in 5.3.1.1.1, change "230/400 V or

400 V (50 Hz)" to "220/380 V or 380 V (50 Hz)"; delete the example of 277/480

V or 480 V (60 Hz).

- According to the latest revision of GB 21518, modify the method of power

consumption measurement.

- In Table 11, specify the minimum test current of 5040 A for products above 630 A

that meet the AC-3e utilization category.

- Consistent with the provisions of 8.3.1, delete the contents of 9.4.2.7 and 9.4.2.8.

The following editorial changes have been made to this Part.

In order to be consistent with China's standard system, change the standard name to

"Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 4-1.Contactors and motor-starters -

Electromechanical contactors and motor-starters (Including motor protector)";

- Delete index of terms and definitions.

- After analyzing the modification content of IEC 60947.2007/A2.2014, since there

is no difference in technical content, DELETE the reference to IEC

60947.2007/A2.2014 BY 5.5, 6.3, Clause 7, 8.1.2.1, 8.2.2.9, 8.2.3.2, 9.1.2, 9.3.2,

9.3.3.2.1.1, 9.3.3.2.2, 9.4.1, H.1, M.7.1, M.9.8, P.3.2, P.4.2, and Q.1.After

respectively incorporating the technical revisions of IEC 60947.2007/A2.2014 into

the corresponding subclauses, DELETE the reference to IEC 60947.2007/A2.2014

BY 8.1.2.2, 8.1.4, 8.2.2.6, 8.2.5.3.2, 8.3.3, 9.2.1, 9.3.3.3.1, 9.3.3.4.1, 9.3.4.2.4, and

Annex N.

- Modify the SCPD test requirements in 8.2.5.1 (see 9.3.4.2.2 and 9.3.4.2.3).

- Add 8.3.3.1 "General" and adjust the numbering of the subsequent two subclauses.

- Modify the reference "4.2 and 4.3" of IEC 61140.2016 in N.3.1 TO "4.1 and 4.2"

of GB/T 17045-2008.

1 Scope

This Part of GB/T 14048 specifies.

2 Normative references

3 Terms, definitions, symbols and abbreviated terms

Contactor in which the force for closing the open main contacts or opening the closed

main contacts is provided by a device using compressed air, without the use of electrical

means.

4 Classification

gives all the types and kinds which may be used as criteria for classification.

5 Characteristics of contactors and starters

For rheostatic rotor starters, the value of rated rotor operational voltage is that of the

voltage which, when combined with a rated rotor operational current, determines the

application of the rotor circuit including its mechanical switching devices and to which

are referred the making and breaking capacities, the type of duty and the starting

characteristics.

6 Product information

Additional information for the decommissioning and dismantling of the device shall be

maintained available to the user in case of foreseeable hazardous condition of the device,

for example due to stored energy, instability or falling of objects, etc.

In the case of protected starters, the manufacturer shall also provide the necessary

mounting and wiring instructions.

7 Normal service, mounting and transport conditions

Rail mounting shall be specified according to IEC 60715.2017, when relevant.

Standard conditions of vibration are defined in footnote b of Annex Q of GB/T 14048.1-

2012.

8 Constructional and performance requirements

Components used in the construction of the equipment, compliant with a relevant

product standard do not require separate evaluation. Components or assemblies of

components, for which no relevant product standard exists, shall be tested according to

the requirements of this Part.

9 Tests

For the low temperature test, the test Ad is to be chosen instead of the test Ab and the

contactor shall be in the open position during the cooling period. It shall then be

energized for the last hour.
