4.3 Steel sheets and strips are classified according to surface structure, as shown in Table 3. Table 3 -- Surface structure classification

5 Ordering information

5.1 Contracts or orders placed in accordance with this document shall include at least the following.

a) Document number;

b) Product name;

d) Dimensions and precision;

e) Surface quality grade;

f) Surface structure;

g) Type of coating;

h) Edge condition;

i) Packaging method;

l) Special requirements.

5.2 If the purchase contract does not specify dimensions, flatness accuracy, surface quality grade, surface structure, edge condition, packaging method, the steel sheets or strips shall be supplied with ordinary-grade dimensions and flatness accuracy, higher- grade surface quality, a rough surface structure with medium-coated oil and cut edges, packaged according to the packaging method provided by the supplier.

6 Manufacturing process

6.1 Smelting method The steel shall be smelted in a converter or electric arc furnace. Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser in the contract, the smelting method shall be selected by the supplier.

6.2 Delivery condition

6.2.1 Steel sheets and strips shall be delivered in a flat condition after annealing. Subject to negotiation between the supplier and the buyer, delivery may also be made in hard, semi-hard, or other conditions.

6.2.2 Steel sheets and strips are usually supplied after being oiled. The oil film shall be removable with an alkaline solution or other commonly used degreasing agents. Under normal packaging, transportation, loading and unloading, storage conditions, lightly oiled steel sheets and strips shall not rust within 3 months from the date of manufacture; medium- and heavy-duty oiled steel sheets and strips shall not rust within 6 months from the date of manufacture. The amount of oil applied for each type of oiling is given in Appendix A. If the buyer requests unoiled delivery, this shall be negotiated at the time of ordering. Note
