Scope
GB 8959-2007 is the English-translated version of 铸造防尘技术规程.
GB 8959-2007 is the mandatory Chinese national standard that sets the dust control code for foundries.
It gives general principles for foundry dust control along with process, structural and equipment measures, and treats melting furnaces, foundry material handling, moulding, core making, shake-out and the cleaning and finishing work that raises dust.
Ventilation and dust extraction techniques and the management and supervision of the dust control system are covered as well.
It applies to the design and management of new, rebuilt and extended steel, cast iron and non-ferrous foundries and of upgrading and technology transfer projects, and existing foundries and firms supplying foundry equipment or services follow it too.
It quotes GB 9078, GB 16297-1996, GB 50019 and GB 50243, and it replaces GB 8959-1988. Issued on 26 June 2007, it has applied since 1 February 2008.
