Scope
GB 34668-2024 is the English-translated version of 电动平衡车安全技术规范.
GB 34668-2024 specifies the safety requirements for electrical self-balancing vehicles and describes the corresponding test methods; it applies to the design, production and sale of self-balancing vehicles powered by storage batteries.
After defining test conditions for the road, the rider (75 kg reference mass or the stated maximum load) and the environment, it sets general safety requirements such as flame retardancy, clearance between moving parts, overspeed, low battery, hill-holding, wheel spin and switch control protection and battery requirements, followed by electrical safety, mechanical safety and environmental reliability requirements.
Test methods cover protection functions, heating, electric strength, charging port protection, insulation resistance, dynamic strength and partial immersion in water, and the document closes with marking and instructions for use and an informative annex on protective circuits and safety analysis.
It replaces GB/T 34668-2023 and is now a mandatory standard; the new edition adds the term wheel spin, clearance, switch control, charging port, insulation resistance, partial immersion and permanent marking requirements, deletes the metallic materials and low battery speed limitation requirements, and changes the heating, electric strength, energy recovery overcharge and dynamic strength tests.
It was issued on 24 July 2024 and takes effect on 1 August 2025. Classification: ICS 25.040.30, CCS J 28. The document runs to 23 pages, delivered complete in English translation.
