Scope
GB 3445-2018 is the English-translated version of 室内消火栓.
GB 3445-2018 specifies the terms and definitions, classification, model and basic parameters, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, instructions for use, marking, packaging, transport and storage of indoor fire hydrants, of nominal diameter DN 25, 50 and 65 and nominal pressure 1.6 MPa, for water or foam mixture.
Hydrants are classified by number of outlets and valves and by structural form (right-angle, 45° outlet, rotatable, pressure-reducing, pressure reducing and stabilizing, their rotatable versions and the reducing tee type), and the model code combines these with the nominal diameter and the pressure-stabilizing class.
The requirements cover appearance, materials (HT200 grey iron bodies, ZCuZn38 seats, HPb59-1 stems with tensile strength above 390 N/mm2), basic dimensions, KN couplings, hand wheels and threads, stem torque of at most 8.0 N·m and rotation torque of at most 10.0 N·m, a 2.4 MPa strength test and a 1.6 MPa sealing test, pressure loss of at most 0.02 MPa, pressure reducing and stabilizing classes I to III with a flow of at least 5.0 L/s, and corrosion resistance, each with its test method.
It replaces GB 3445-2005: the reducing tee hydrant was defined, the stem tensile strength and pressure-stabilizing requirements were modified and material requirements for rotating parts and hand wheels were added; Clause 5, Clause 7 and 9.1.1 are mandatory.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB 3445-2005, Indoor fire hydrant. Compared with GB 3445-2005, apart from editorial modifications, the main technical changes are as follows:
- the definition of the reducing tee indoor fire hydrant has been added (see 3.6);
- the requirements for the tensile strength in the mechanical properties of the valve stem and for the pressure reducing-stabilizing performance have been modified (see 5.2.3 and 5.13.2; 5.2.3 and 5.14.2 of the 2005 edition);
- requirements for the materials of the rotating parts of rotatable indoor fire hydrants and of the hand wheel have been added (see 5.2.6 and 5.2.7).
