Scope
GB 12514.2-2006 is the English-translated version of 消防接口 第2部分：内扣式消防接口型式和基本参数.
GB 12514.2-2006 is Part 2 of the four-part Chinese national standard on fire couplings and specifies the patterns and basic parameters of snap-type fire couplings used in fire water supply systems: hose couplings (types KD, external hoop, and KDN, internal expansion), suction hose couplings, pipe-thread couplings (KY), blank caps (KM), female-thread fixed couplings (KN), male-thread fixed couplings for above-ground and underground hydrants (KWS and KWA) and reducing couplings (KJ); couplings pressed from steel strip are excluded.
It covers nominal diameters from 25 mm to 150 mm (25, 40, 50, 65, 80, 100, 125, 135 and 150) at nominal pressures of 1.6 MPa and 2.5 MPa, for water and foam mixture.
Eight figures fix the structure of each type, and a dimension table gives the basic dimensions with their deviations - bore d or the G pipe thread, outer diameter D, the lug diameters D1 to D3, m, n, the lengths L, L1 and l, and the key sizes S and S1 of the hydrant couplings; clauses 4 and 5 are mandatory and untoleranced dimensions refer to GB/T 1804-2000.
Together with Parts 1, 3 and 4 it replaces GB 12514-1990 (performance requirements and test methods for fire couplings) and GB 3265-1995 (snap-type fire couplings).

GB 12514 Fire coupling is divided into 4 parts:
- Part 1: General technical requirements for fire couplings;
- Part 2: Patterns and basic parameters for fire snap-type couplings;
- Part 3: Patterns and basic parameters for fire insertion-type couplings;
- Part 4: Patterns and basic parameters for fire screw-type couplings.
This part is Part 2 of GB 12514.
This part, together with GB 12514.1, GB 12514.3 and GB 12514.4, replaces the former national standards GB 12514-1990 Performance requirements and test methods for fire couplings and GB 3265-1995 Snap-type fire couplings.
This part was proposed by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China.
This part is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee 5 of the National Technical Committee for Fire Protection Standardization.
