Scope

GB 3446-2013 is the English-translated version of 消防水泵接合器.

GB 3446-2013 specifies the terms and definitions, classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging of siamese connections, the fixed inlets on the outside of a building through which a fire engine or portable pump feeds water into the building's fire water system; it applies to all types of siamese connection used in fire-fighting pipework.

Connections are classified as above-ground, underground, wall-mounted or multi-purpose, with outlet diameters of 100 mm or 150 mm, nominal pressures of 1.6, 2.5 or 4.0 MPa and flanged or threaded ends, and a model designation code is given.

The requirements cover body and inlet materials by pressure class, appearance and painting, thread and flange dimensions, tightness at nominal pressure, strength at 1.5 times nominal pressure, safety valve opening pressure and blowdown, and the fire hose couplings to be fitted, each with its test method, followed by type and lot-by-lot inspection rules.

Chapters 5, 7 and 8 are mandatory and the rest recommended. It replaces GB 3446-1993, adding terms, the 4.0 MPa class, connection types, inlet coupling materials, internal corrosion protection and threaded connection dimensions, and revising the inspection rules.

Chapters 5, 7 and 8 of this standard are mandatory; the remainder are recommended.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB 3446-1993, Siamese connection. Compared with GB 3446-1993, apart from editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

- terms for the siamese connection have been added (see Chapter 3);

- siamese connections with a nominal pressure of 4.0 MPa have been added (see 4.1.3);

- the connection types of siamese connections have been added (see 4.1.4);

- material requirements for the inlet coupling of the siamese connection have been added (see 5.2);

- corrosion protection requirements for the internal surfaces of cast iron parts have been added (see 5.3.1);

- threaded connection dimensions have been added (see 5.4.2);

- the inspection rules have been modified (see Chapter 7; Chapter 7 of the 1993 edition).
