Scope

GB 19079.3-2005, Part 3 of the GB 19079 series on the opening of sports venues, specifies the basic conditions and technical requirements that bungee jump places must meet before opening, and applies to all bungee jump places open to the public.
It defines bungee jump, bungee jump place, platform, assist safety rope and instructor, and requires instructors and security staff to hold national professional qualifications.
Site requirements cover the tower (natural height not exceeding 80 m, platform at least 3 m by 2 m, jumping arm at least 12 m, water depth at least 4 m), the platform (live load at least 300 kg/m^2, guardrails to GB 8408-2000, friction coefficient at least 0.5), clearances in the jump space depending on a jump height below or above 40 m, lifting equipment (safety factor above 10, rope diameter at least 8 mm, winch brake to GB/T 5144-1985), bungee cords, harnesses, anemometers, rescue equipment and indoor air to GB/T 17093.
Safety rules cover notices and warnings, inspection marks, equipment records and maintenance, first aid, duty staff and responsibility systems. It is a first edition, issued on 24 January 2005 and in force since 1 June 2005.
