Scope

GB 13954-2009 is the English-translated version of 警车、消防车、救护车、工程救险车标志灯具.

GB 13954 governs the warning lamps fitted to China's emergency vehicles — police cars, fire engines, ambulances and engineering rescue vehicles. It classifies and designates the lamps, sets the photometric and colorimetric requirements including the chromaticity limits for each permitted light colour, the flash rate, the resistance to vibration, water and temperature, and the electrical requirements; it then gives the test methods, the rules for installation on the vehicle, the inspection rules and the marking. It is a mandatory standard: a lamp that does not meet it cannot be fitted to an emergency vehicle in China. Issued on 15 November 2009, in force since 1 May 2010, replacing GB 13954-2004. This page is published from the official record of the standard held by the Chinese standards administration: the identification, the dates, the classification and the edition it replaces are taken from there. The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are not reproduced on this page — they are in the document itself, which is delivered in full in English translation.
