Foreword
SN/T 1538 "medium preparation guide" is divided into two parts.
--- Part 1. Laboratory culture preparation quality assurance General;
--- Part 2. Practical guide to performance testing of media.
This part of SN/T 1538 Part 2.
This section drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules.
This section replaces SN/T 1538.2-2007 "Medium Preparation Guide Part 2. Medium Performance Test Practical Guide", and SN/T 1538.2-2007 compared to the main technical changes are as follows.

--- Added Appendix C;
--- Remove the original standard English part.

1 Scope
This part of SN/T 1538 specifies the general quality control requirements of the culture medium and lists the performance tests of fixed and liquid culture medium method.
This section applies to the performance test of commercially available and homemade media.

3 Terms and definitions
SN/T 1538.1-2016 Terms and definitions apply to this document.
4 General quality control requirements
4.1 Basic requirements
4.1.1 Medium
The quality of the medium consists of the quality of the basic ingredients, the formulation of the medium, the control of the preparation process, the elimination of microbial contamination, and the packaging and storage Deposit conditions and other factors (see Appendix A).
Suppliers or producers should ensure that the physical and chemical properties of the media meet the requirements of the relevant standards, the following characteristics of the quality evaluation should be consistent with the results the corresponding provisions.
--- Packing number;
--- Appearance, color and uniformity;
--- agar gel hardness;
--- Moisture content;
--- Buffering capacity;
--- Microbial contamination.
The various components of the medium, nutrient additives or selectors should be properly evaluated for quality.
4.1.2 Basic components
The media mentioned in international and/or national standards are generally available for immediate use. However, some of these basic biological components are not stable in quality
