Carbon steel forgings for valves in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants are the subject of NB/T 20010.4-2010, a recommended Chinese energy industry standard.

As Part 4 of the NB/T 20010 series it fixes the technical requirements for pressure-retaining carbon steel forgings, shortened in the text to forgings.

It covers forgings for class 2 and class 3 PWR valves, including bodies, bonnets and discs, and non-nuclear valves used in nuclear plants may be built to it by reference, while valve stems and fasteners fall outside it.

Chemical analysis and testing follow cited standards such as the GB/T 223 series, GB/T 228-2002, GB/T 229-2007, GB/T 6394, GB/T 10561, the NB/T 20003 parts and ASTM A105/A105M-2001.

It replaces EJ/T 1022.4-1996. Issued on 1 May 2010, it has applied since 1 October 2010.
