3 General

3.1 The purpose of acceptance of welding filler materials is to establish that the lots of filler materials used are of a constant quality similar to that of the lots which have undergone qualification tests, and are in compliance with the requirements of the manufacturer's [1) The manufacturer refers to equipment manufacturer and construction company(ies).]1) welding material procurement specification.

3.2 The welding material supplier shall conduct all tests in accordance with this standard in lots for the welding filler materials. The acceptance tests shall be carried out in the presence of a representative of the quality control department of the supplier. The manufacturer shall also accept the welding filler materials in lots unless the manufacturer (including the third-party quality control representative authorized by the equipment purchaser) participates in the source verification of the welding material supplier’s tests.

3.3

The manufacturer shall draw up acceptance specifications for the filler materials. This document shall be drafted in accordance with the provisions of this standard and shall comply with the provisions of the technical qualification data sheet for welding materials when such qualification is required. The welding material acceptance specifications shall include, but are not limited to:

——welding processes,

——the welding procedure parameters,

——the interpass temperature and any prescribed post weld heat treatment,

——the basic drawing for sampling, and

——acceptance items, test methods and conformance criteria.

3.4

The filler material supplier shall carry out qualification for the welding filler materials to be assessed in accordance with NB/T 20002.4. After the welding material qualification data sheet is established, the manufacturer may conduct acceptance in lots.

3.5

Acceptance items and indices of welding filler metals are determined by their use in making strength welds, buttering, and cladding, seal and repair welds.

4 Designation of welding filler materials

Welding filler materials shall be identified by a conventional designation. The designations of Chinese national standards take precedence for this purpose, or alternatively or additionally, foreign designations AWS, AFNOR, JINS, DIN and others.

Reference to these standards does not mean that their technical provisions (particularly as regards dimensions) apply; they simply make it easier to name the products.
