JB/T 3906-2011 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard holding the general technical requirements for magnesium alloy castings used in rock drilling machinery and pneumatic tools. It gives the terms and definitions, the tolerance grades, the classification and the marking, then the chemical composition, the mechanical properties, the casting dimensions, the surface quality and the internal quality, the correction of defects and the conditions for delivery of the castings. Sand cast and metal mould magnesium alloy castings for these machines and tools fall within its scope, while die cast magnesium alloy castings do not. Among the standards it quotes are GB/T 228-2002, GB/T 1177, GB/T 6414-1999 and a number of parts of GB/T 13748. It replaces JB/T 3906-1999. It carries the classifications J48 and J84, with 25.140.01 and 73.100.01 internationally.
