JB/T 12165-2015 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard on halogen-free, low-smoke, flame-retardant glass fibre tape for electrical insulation. It gives terms and definitions, the requirements the tape must satisfy, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the packaging, labelling, transport and storage. The tape in its field has a glass fibre cloth substrate coated on both faces with a flame-retardant compound that contains a metal hydrate and no halogens such as chlorine or bromine, the coating being baked and cured onto the cloth. Tape of this kind serves as a flame-retardant and oxygen-barrier wrapping for flame-retardant and fire-resistant cables. Among the standards it quotes are GB/T 5454-1997, several parts of GB/T 7689, GB/T 9914.3-2013, GB/T 17650.2-1998, GB/T 17651.2-1998 and GB/T 19666-2005.
