HG/T 2879.6-2014 is the Chinese chemical industry standard for measuring the total manganese content of the kaolin clay used as a rubber compounding ingredient. The determination it prescribes is made with an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. It is written for clay that has been chemically treated during production to neutralize acidic substances such as amines. As part six of the HG/T 2879 series it sits beside the parts that handle aluminium, silicon and iron, each element having a text of its own, and it carries the Chinese classification G49 with ICS 83.040.20. It replaces HG/T 2879.6-1997. Issued on 24 December 2014, it has applied since 1 June 2015.
