The total iron content of kaolin clay for rubber compounding is determined according to HG/T 2879.5-2014, a recommended standard of the Chinese chemical industry. The method it lays down is spectrophotometric and uses bipyridyl as the reagent. It applies to clay that has been chemically treated in the course of production to neutralize acidic substances such as amines and that has not been surface treated. Filed under the Chinese classification G49 and ICS 83.040.20, it forms part five of the HG/T 2879 series on this filler. It supersedes HG/T 2879.5-1997.
