Scope
GB/T 999-2021 is the English-translated version of 直流电力牵引额定电压.
GB/T 999-2021 sets the voltage ratings of DC electric traction systems.
It specifies the basic supply voltages under normal operating conditions, with the nominal system voltages and their permitted limits, the preferred values for DC equipment below 750 V, overvoltages and voltage variation, and the methods for measuring catenary voltage and voltage changes and interruptions.
It applies to electrified transport in industrial and mining enterprises, including underground roadways, to urban rail transit such as metros, light rail, trams and low-speed maglev, to trolleybuses and dual-energy trams, and to suburban and local railways.
It does not cover signal voltages, the ratings of components inside equipment, or cranes, mobile platforms and funiculars. It replaces GB/T 999-2008, was issued on 31 December 2021 and has applied since 1 July 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1. Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.
This document replaces GB/T 999-2008 "Rated Voltage of DC Electric Traction", compared with GB/T 999-2008, except for structural adjustment and In addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) Changed the description of the scope of application and inapplicability of this document (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2008 edition);
b) Modified normative references (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the 2008 edition);
c) Added the nominal voltage level of 750V suitable for mine and underground roadway transportation, and newly defined the application of mine open-air transportation The nominal voltage levels are 550V, 750V, and 1500V (see Table 1, Table 1 of the 2008 edition);
d) Changed the preferred value and supplementary value of rated voltage of DC equipment below 750V (see Table 2, Appendix C of the 2008 edition);
e) The contents of "Chapter 5 Test" and "Chapter 6 Test Method" of the original standard have been integrated and revised (see Chapter 5, Chapters 5 and 6 of the 2008 edition);
f) Added references (see References).
1 Scope
This document specifies the basic voltages and test methods used in DC electric traction systems.
This document applies to supply line voltages for DC electric traction systems under normal operating conditions. This document mainly applies to the following electrified transport:
a) Electrified transportation of industrial and mining enterprises (including underground tunnel transportation);
b) Urban rail transit, such as subway electric vehicles, light rail trains, trams, low-speed maglev trains, etc.;
c) Urban trolleybuses, dual-energy trams;
d) Suburbs (including satellite towns) and electrified railways of local railways.
This document does not apply to:
a) the rated voltage for representing or transmitting the signal (measured value);
b) the rated voltage of the components or equipment units in the electrical equipment;
c) Rated voltage of cranes, mobile platforms and funiculars.
Note 1: The DC voltages involved in this document are average values.
Note 2: The DC voltage in this document is the ripple-free DC voltage value. Usually, the DC voltage with the sinusoidal ripple content not exceeding 10% of the root mean square value is called "ripple-free DC".
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated citations documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions
GB/T 156 defined and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Electric traction system
A traction system powered by an external power source to power a vehicle.
Note: Electric traction system refers to the combination of (traction) substation, converter equipment, catenary, and power vehicle operating under a common voltage, mainly including.
--- catenary system;
--- Feedback circuit of electric traction system;
--- the running track of the non-electric traction system, which is adjacent to and electrically connected to the running track of the electric traction system;
--- electrical installations supplied directly or through transformers from the catenary;
--- Electrical installations on power plants or (traction) substations solely used to generate or distribute electricity to the catenary;
--- Electrical installations of switch operating stations.
