Scope
GB/T 9169-2023 is the English-translated version of 喷气燃料热氧化安定性测定法.
GB/T 9169-2023 is the Chinese national test method for the thermal oxidation stability of aviation turbine fuels, the test that shows how far a jet fuel tends to form deposits in an engine fuel system.
The sample is pumped at a fixed flow rate over a heated tube and then through a test filter, and the standard defines the deposits formed, the heater tube - an aluminium tube whose effective test area is the 60 mm thinned section between its two shoulders, the fuel entering at 0 mm and leaving at 60 mm - and the breakpoint, stated in terms of the heater tube wall rating and the differential pressure across the filter.
It applies to the determination of thermal oxidation stability of jet fuel. It replaces GB/T 9169-2010, was issued on 23 May 2023 and has applied since 1 December 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 9169-2010 "Determination of Thermal Oxidation Stability of Jet Fuels JFTOT Method", and GB/T 9169-2010 In comparison, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
--- Added the content of three types of jet fuel thermal oxidation tester, 230MARKIV, F400 and DRYA-2601 (see Table 1);
--- Increased quality control inspection (see 9.2);
---Deleted the content about the three types of instruments 202, 203 and 215 (see Table 1, Chapter 10, 11.3.2, 11.
3.3, 11.7.1, Chapter 13, Appendix C, Appendix D and Appendix E);
--- Deleted the structural differences between this document and ASTMD3241-08a (see Appendix A of the 2010 edition).
1 Scope
This document describes a method for assessing the propensity of jet fuels to generate deposits in the engine fuel system.
This document applies to the determination of thermal oxidation stability of jet fuel.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute the essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated references For documents, only the version corresponding to the date is applicable to this document; for undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Sediment deposits
Oxidation products deposited on the heated tube test area and/or trapped on the test filter.
NOTE: Fuel deposits tend to be concentrated in the hottest part of the heating tube, i:e. between 30 mm and 50 mm.
3.2 Heater tube
Aluminum sample tubes with controlled heating surfaces.
NOTE: The tube is heat-resistant and has a built-in thermocouple to control the temperature. The effective test area of the tube is located between the two shoulders of the tube, that is, the thinner part with a length of 60mm. try The sample enters from 0mm and exits from 60mm.
3.3 Breakpoint
The sample meets the maximum temperature required by the heater tube wall rating and differential pressure (deltaP) specification across the filter.
4 Overview
This document uses jet fuel thermal oxidation stability tester to measure the high temperature oxidation stability of jet fuel, the test conditions can be set Linked to actual operating conditions of jet turbine engine fuel systems. The sample is pumped through the heating tube at a fixed volume flow rate, and then enters the […]
