Scope
GB/T 8026-2023 is the English-translated version of 石油蜡和石油脂滴熔点测定法.
GB/T 8026-2023 is the Chinese test method for the drop melting point of petroleum wax, including petrolatum.
It carries two procedures: in method A a cooled thermometer is dipped into the sample so that the wax clings to the bulb, the tube is heated, and the temperature at which the first drop falls is the result; in method B the molten sample is poured into a cup with a 2.8 mm hole in its base, cooled under set conditions and then heated at a constant rate in air until it drips.
Clause 1 gives method B for the drop melting point during the production of petroleum wax and petroleum grease and says it does not apply to synthetic, animal or plant waxes.
It replaces GB/T 8026-2014, was issued on 7 September 2023 and has applied since 1 April 2024.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 8026-2014 "Method for determination of melting point of petroleum wax and petroleum grease droplets". Compared with GB/T 8026-2014, except for In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) Test method B is added to the scope (see Chapter 1);
b) Changed the definition of dripping melting point (see 3.1, 2014 version of 3.1);
c) Added relevant requirements for Method B (see 4.2, 5.2, 7.2, 10.2);
d) The water bath was changed to a bathroom, and the heat transfer medium requirements were added (see 5.1.2, 5.2 of the 2014 version);
e) Added quality control (see Chapter 9).
1 Scope
This document describes a method for the determination of the melting point of petroleum wax and petroleum grease droplets.
Method A in this document is suitable for the determination of the melting point of petroleum wax and petroleum grease droplets.
Method B in this document is suitable for the determination of droplet melting point during the production process of petroleum wax and petroleum grease, and is not applicable to synthetic wax, animal wax and plant wax.
Determination of melting point of wax droplets blended with petroleum wax.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Drop melting point
Under specified conditions, the temperature at which petroleum wax and petroleum grease melt to reach a certain fluidity and drip from the test thermometer or from the sample The temperature at which the cup is dripping.
4 Principles
4.1 Method A Immerse the cooled thermometer into the sample so that the sample adheres to the mercury bulb of the thermometer. Place the thermometer with the sample adhered to the test tube, heat the test tube until the sample melts and the first drop drops from the mercury bulb of the thermometer. The dripping temperature is the drop melting point of the sample.
4.2 Method B
Pour the molten sample into a sample cup with a 2.8mm diameter hole at the bottom, cool it under the specified conditions, and place the sample containing the cooled sample into the cup.
The sample cup is heated at a constant rate in the air, and the sample melts and flows downward to form droplets. The dripping temperature is the droplet melting point of the sample.
