Scope

GB/T 6017-2021 is the English-translated version of 工业用丁二烯纯度及烃类杂质的测定 气相色谱法.

GB/T 6017-2021 is the Chinese national gas chromatographic method for the purity of industrial butadiene (1,3-butadiene) and for its hydrocarbon impurities: ethane, ethylene, propane, propylene, acetylene, isobutane, n-butane, propadiene, the four butenes, isopentane, n-pentane, propyne, 1-butyne, vinyl acetylene and 1,2-butadiene.

The chromatograph uses a flame ionization detector, and results are calculated either by corrected area normalization, folding in the dimer, carbonyl compounds, inhibitor and water measured by other standard methods, or by an external standard method.

It applies to samples with hydrocarbon impurity contents of not less than 0.0003% and a purity above 98% (mass fraction). This edition adds conditions for Al2O3/KCl capillary columns in series, a flash vaporization device for sampling and quality control.

It replaces GB/T 6017-2008, was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 6017-2008 "Industrial butadiene purity and hydrocarbon impurities determination gas chromatography", and compared with GB/T 6017-2008, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Added the chromatographic conditions of the 100 m Al2O3/KCl capillary column in series (see 6.2, 5.2 in the 2008 edition);

b) Modified the chromatographic conditions of the Al2O3/KCl type capillary column (see 6.2, 5.2 in the 2008 edition);

c) The technical requirements of flash vaporization device are added to the sampling method (see 6.4.2); the method of completely vaporizing a small amount of liquid sample is deleted (5.3.2.1 of the 2008 version);

d) Modified the determination of the mass correction factor of the correction area normalization method in the test procedure (see 8.2.1, 7.1.2 of the 2008 edition);

e) Modified the expression method and calculation formula of the external standard method (see 8.3, 7.2 of the 2008 edition);

f) The residues in other impurities deducted in the calculation of the purity of butadiene are modified to water, and the determination method of other impurities is added (see 8.2.3, 8.3.3, 7.1.4, 7.2.2 of the 2008 version);

g) Re-determined the repeatability limit (r) (see Chapter 10, Chapter 9 of the 2008 edition);

h) Added quality control (see Chapter 11);

i) The chromatographic conditions in Appendix A have been deleted (see Appendix A of the 2008 edition).

1 Scope

This document specifies the use of gas chromatography to determine the purity of industrial butadiene and hydrocarbon impurities: ethane, ethylene, propane, propylene, acetylene, isobutane, n-butane, propadiene, trans-2-butene, isobutene, 1-butene, cis-2-butene, isopentane, n-pentane, propyne, 1-butyne, vinyl acetylene and the content of 1,2-butadiene.

This document applies to the determination of samples of industrial butadiene with a hydrocarbon impurity content of not less than 0.0003% (mass fraction) and a purity greater than 98% (mass fraction).

Unless otherwise specified, the industrial butadiene and butadiene in this document refer to 1,3-butadiene.

3 Terms and definitions

There are no terms and definitions that need to be defined in this document.

4 Principles of the method

4.1 Corrected area normalization method

Under the conditions specified in this document, an appropriate amount of sample is injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector (FID). Measure the peak area of each impurity and butadiene, the mass fraction of each component is calculated by the corrected area normalization method, and the measured value will be measured by other standard methods.

The total amount of impurities such as butadiene dimer, carbonyl compound, polymerization inhibitor and water are normalized to the measurement results.

4.2 External standard method

Under the conditions specified in this document, a quantitative sample and an external standard are injected into a gas chromatograph equipped with FID. […]
