3.1 Terms and Definitions

What is defined in ISO 22300, and the following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.

3.1.1 Early-warning

Early-warning is a behavior of sending emergency signals to the public and relevant departments before the occurrence of the emergency and in accordance with the rules summarized in the past or the possible omens obtained through observations, to report dangerous situations and prevent the hazards from occurring without sufficient knowledge or preparation, so as to minimize the loss caused by the hazards.

3.1.2 Alert

As part of early warning, alert sends reports or signals of critical situations to the public and emergency responders who are about to be or are already at risk.

NOTE 1: generally speaking, equipment like radios, sirens and horns are used to send out acoustical signals with special meanings for emergency notification of major catastrophic events (such as: air defense, earthquake and tsunami, etc.).

NOTE 2: definition 3.1 of ISO 22332 is modified.

3.1.3 Color blindness

Color blindness means that the ability to distinguish specific colors is completely or partially missing.

3.1.4 Color-code

Color-code refers to a set of symbolic colors used to express a specific meaning.

3.1.5 Hue

Hue represents the characteristics of colors like red, yellow, green, blue and purple, etc. It is one of the three attributes of color.

3.2 Abbreviations

The following abbreviations are applicable to this document.

CMYK: C---cyan; M---magenta; Y---yellow; K---key plate.

RGB: R---red; G---green; B---blue.

4.1 Rating
