This document specifies the safety requirements and/or risk reduction measures and usage information for molding and core-making equipment, and describes the corresponding verification methods. This document outlines the procedures for using molding and core-making equipment for its intended purpose and for use under conditions of misuse that the manufacturer could reasonably foresee. Examples of major hazards, hazardous conditions, or hazardous events related to this type of equipment (see Appendix A). This document applies to the design, manufacture, and acceptance of molding and core-making equipment.
Note. Molding and core-making equipment includes molding machines, molding production lines, core-making machines, core-making production lines, sand core drying equipment, and sand mold drying equipment. This document does not apply to investment and lost foam casting equipment, sand core/sand mold 3D printing equipment, casting equipment, ventilation and dust removal equipment, or exhaust gas systems.
