1 Scope

GB/T 44700-2024 sets the general requirements for the equipment used in China's national physical fitness testing programme, the periodic nationwide measurement of the population's height, weight, lung capacity, grip strength, flexibility, balance, reaction time and endurance. The results feed national policy, so the instruments have to give the same reading in a village hall as in a provincial sports institute, which is a metrological problem before it is a sporting one. The standard sets the categories of equipment, the requirements on them, appearance and construction, measurement range and accuracy, repeatability, stability, electrical safety and durability, and on the data output and interfaces where the instrument is networked, together with the test methods for each requirement, the inspection rules and the marking. Normative annexes cover particular items, the balance beam and the auxiliary equipment among them, and the pressure correction that some measurements require. For a manufacturer supplying this programme, this is the acceptance text. It takes effect on 1 February 2025.

This document defines the terms and definitions of national physical fitness testing equipment (hereinafter referred to as "testing equipment"), and provides a classification for the convenience of technical regulations. Class, specifies technical requirements and describes corresponding test methods. This document applies to the manufacture and inspection of test equipment for people aged 3 to 79 years old.
