Scope
GB/T 44338-2024 is the English-translated version of 橘小实蝇检疫处理技术要求.
GB/T 44338-2024 sets the Chinese technical requirements for the phytosanitary treatment of the oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis. It is the most consequential fruit fly in Asian trade: it attacks hundreds of hosts, it is the reason importing countries require treatment of mangoes, citrus, longan and much else, and the treatment schedule is what allows a consignment to move at all. The standard sets out the treatments and the parameters that make each of them effective: fumigation, with its basic requirements, technical parameters of dose, temperature, exposure and load factor, and operating procedure; and the other approved treatments with their own schedules, together with the requirements on the treatment facility and its equipment, the monitoring and recording of the treatment, the verification of efficacy, the handling of the consignment before and after treatment and the documentation issued. It took effect on 23 August 2024, and for an exporter to or from China this is the schedule a consignment is treated and certified against.
