Scope
GB 16334-1996 is the English-translated version of γ辐照装置食品加工实用剂量学导则.
GB 16334-1996 is a practical guide to dosimetry in gamma irradiation facilities for food processing: it specifies the contents and procedures of dose measurement during commissioning and routine operation of the facility, and the classification, selection, calibration and use of gamma-ray absorbed dose measurement systems, for absorbed doses from 0.02 kGy to 60 kGy; the irradiation of other products should also refer to it.
It defines the terms used (absorbed dose, static batch, dynamic continuous, step-by-step and product flow irradiation, dose uniformity ratio U = Dmax/Dmin, overall average dose, primary, standard, transfer and working dosimeters, traceability) and describes how the dose distribution is mapped with dosimeters in a three-dimensional grid over at least three irradiation containers, how calibration points are set 0.3 m to 0.6 m from the source, and how routine monitoring places dosimeters in the first, middle and last containers of each batch.
Working dosimeters are selected by dose range, response stability and environmental influences, calibrated by substitution against standard dosimeters in terms of absorbed dose in water and verified under JJG 775-92; the standard sets out the records to be kept and the error analysis, with Type A and Type B uncertainty combined and expanded with K = 2 to a 95% confidence level.
Informative Annex A lists the dose limits of the Chinese hygienic standards for irradiated foods (garlic, potatoes, rice, pork, cooked meat and others) and Annex B the common dosimeters with their dose ranges and precision; the Fricke dosimeter is used according to GB 139.Issued on 19 June 1996.
Classification: ICS 67.040, CCS C53. The document runs to 8 pages, delivered complete in English translation.
