GB/T 36854-2018 lays down the operating procedure for fumigating containers. It covers containers of imported and exported animal and plant products, wood packaging and dunnage, fruit and other fresh goods, as well as empty containers.
The basic requirements fix where fumigated containers stand and their distance from living or working areas, the minimum temperatures, including those of the vaporizer used for methyl bromide, and the real-time collection and upload of fumigant concentration data.
The standard then gives the fumigation methods and steps, the treatment of fresh produce such as fruit and the evaluation of results, with annexes on goods unsuitable for methyl bromide, sulfuryl fluoride and phosphine and on portable systems for full-container fumigation. It was issued on 17 September 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.

4 Basic requirements
4.1 Venue
The container to be fumigated should be placed on a flat floor in a single layer, and cannot be moved during fumigation and sealing. Fumigation container with living or working area the distance should be no less than 50m at the upper air outlet or no less than 200m at the lower air outlet, and the distance between the container boxes is more than 0.5m.
4.2 Temperature
Container fumigation should be carried out at temperatures above 5 °C in the fumigated confined space. Methyl bromide fumigation should use chemical vaporization device when the drug is administered, the water temperature of the vaporization device is not lower than 65 °C, and the outlet temperature of the drug is not lower than 20 °C.
4.3 Detection data upload
