Scope

GB/T 42051-2022 is the English-translated version of 载人潜水器结构件检测维护要求.

GB/T 42051-2022 tells operators of manned submersibles how the structural parts are to be inspected and maintained once the craft is in service.

It covers the qualifications required of the personnel and of the testing body, the equipment, site and environment, the inspection intervals, and the items, methods and acceptance requirements for voyage, annual, intermediate and special inspections.

It then gives the handling measures for items that fail - separately for the manned cabin shell with its hatch cover and observation window, pressure tanks, ballast water tanks, buoyancy blocks, hoisting and tow-release gear, seals, fasteners and anti-corrosion devices - and the tests to be passed afterwards: seal check, hydrostatic external pressure, shallow depth and maximum working depth dives.

It does not apply to underwater passenger craft. Issued on 12 October 2022, it has applied since the same date.
