Scope
GB/T 41624-2022 is the English-translated version of 中药材种子（种苗） 三七.
GB/T 41624-2022 is the Chinese national standard for the seeds and the seedlings of Panax notoginseng, the medicinal plant grown in Yunnan as sanqi. It specifies their quality requirements, the inspection methods, the inspection rules, the identification marking and the packaging, transport and storage.
It applies to the producers, dealers and users of these seeds and seedlings when grading and inspecting seed quality during production, harvesting, transport, sowing, storage and trading.
It defines the seed as the fresh botanical seed formed by flowering and fruiting, and the seedling as the plant obtained after one year of cultivation, made up of a main root, a dormant bud, lateral roots and fibrous roots.
The inspection follows the crop seed testing procedures of the GB/T 3543 series. It was issued on 11 July 2022 and has applied since 1 February 2023.

1 Scope
This document specifies the quality requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, identification, packaging, transportation and storage of Panax notoginseng seeds and seedlings.
This document is applicable to Panax notoginseng seed and seedling producers, managers and users for the grading and inspection of seed quality in seed production, harvesting, transportation, sowing, storage and trading.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Panax notoginseng seed
Botanical fresh seeds formed by the growth of Panax notoginseng plants through flowering and fruiting.
3.2 Panax notoginseng seedling
Panax notoginseng seeds are formed after a year of cultivation, and are composed of four parts: main root, dormant bud, lateral root and fibrous root.
3.3 Taproot
After the seeds of Panax notoginseng germinate, the taproot system is formed after one year of radicle development and growth.
3.4 Dormant bud
Ungerminated shoots formed during the growth of Panax notoginseng.
3.5 Branch root
The branch roots that grow laterally during the growth of the main root of Panax notoginseng.
