Scope

GB/T 41118-2021 is the English-translated version of 机械安全 安全控制系统设计指南.

GB/T 41118-2021 is a Chinese national guide that shows machine designers how to apply GB/T 16855.1 when designing a safety control system.

It follows the iterative design process, from design preparation - risk assessment, identifying the safety functions, specifying their characteristics, determining the required performance level (PLr) and drawing up the safety requirements statement - to the design itself: the safety design instructions, the hardware system, safety-related software, verification of the PL reached by each safety function and the design documents.

It then covers validation by analysis and test. Informative annexes give worked design and verification examples for a press, a woodworking circular saw and a palletizer.

It applies to the design and upgrade of machinery safety control systems as defined in GB/T 15706-2012. It was issued on 31 December 2021 and has applied since 1 July 2022.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1. Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.

Introduction

The safety standard system in the field of machinery consists of the following types of standards.

--- Type A standard (basic safety standard), giving basic concepts, design principles and general characteristics applicable to all machinery;

--- Class B standard (general safety standard), involving a safety feature in machinery or a class of safety devices with a wide range of use.

- Class B1, standard for safety features (such as safety distance, surface temperature, noise);

- Category B2, safety devices (such as two-hand operating devices, interlocking devices, pressure-sensitive devices, guards) standards;

--- Class C standard (machine product safety standard), a standard that specifies detailed safety requirements for a specific machine or a group of machines.

According to GB/T 15706, this document belongs to Class B standard.

This document is particularly relevant to the following stakeholders related to machinery safety.

--- machine manufacturer;

--- Health and Safety Agency.

Other stakeholders affected by the level of machinery safety are.

--- machine users;

--- the owner of the machine;

--- service providers;

--- Consumers (for machinery intended for use by consumers).

All of the above-mentioned stakeholders may have participated in the drafting of this document.

In addition, this document is intended for standardization bodies drafting Type C standards.

The requirements specified in this document may be supplemented or modified by Type C standards.

For machines that are within the scope of the C-type standard and have been designed and manufactured in accordance with the C-type standard, the requirements in the C-type standard are preferred.

The realization of safety functions of safety protection devices such as emergency stop devices, interlock devices, and two-hand control devices depends on the safety control system.

GB/T 16855.1 gives the design principles of safety control system, the purpose of this document is to guide designers how to use GB/T 16855.1 Design safety control systems.

Appendix A, Appendix B and Appendix C of this document give the design of the safety control system for the press, woodworking circular saw and palletizer, respectively and validation examples.

1 Scope

This document gives guidelines for the design iteration process, design preparation, design implementation and validation of safety control systems.

This document applies to the design and upgrade of the mechanical safety control system defined in GB/T 15706-2012.
