Ladders are a commonly used safety device for climbing. GB/T 17889 aims to improve the quality and safety level of ladder-related products and ensure safety. User safety consists of 7 parts.
1.Terminology, Types, and Functional Dimensions. The aim is to harmonize ladder-related standards and provide commonly used terminology, types, and functional dimensions for ladders. The formula, as well as the functional dimensions that affect the quality and safety level of the ladder, are required for design and testing.
2.Requirements, Tests, and Markings. The purpose is to ensure the safety level of ladders and to address factors affecting the quality and safety level of ladders. The regulations specify the requirements and provide corresponding test methods.
3.Usage Information. The purpose is to ensure that users can use the ladder correctly according to the markings and instruction manual. The labeling that serves as a warning during the use of the product, as well as the information and wording requirements that need to be provided in the instruction manual.
4.Hinged Ladders. The purpose is to ensure the quality and safety of hinged ladders, specifying special requirements for them.

This document specifies the structural dimensions, technical requirements, and usage information for separable platform ladders, and describes the test methods. This document applies to detachable platforms with a maximum height not exceeding 1m and a maximum total load capacity not exceeding 150kg. The design, production, and use of treadmill stairs.
Note. The maximum load capacity includes the user's weight and the total mass of the tools, equipment, and materials they carry.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 17889.1 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Separable platform A flat component designed for users to stand while working and easy to assemble and disassemble.
Note. See Figure 1 for an example of a detachable platform.
3.2 A ladder consisting of at least two flights and a separable platform (3.1).
Note. See Figure 1 for an example of a detachable platform ladder.
3.3 crossbar A horizontal component that connects the two parts of the separable platform ladder (3.2).
Note. See Figure 1 for an example of a crossbar.
3 The vertical distance from the reference plane to the standing surface when the detachable platform (3.1) is at its highest position allowed by the design.
