Scope

GB/T 41009-2021 is the English-translated version of 法庭科学 DNA数据库选用的基因座及其数据结构.

GB/T 41009-2021 defines which genetic loci are recorded in the national forensic science DNA database of China and how their data are structured.

It presents the types of human chromosomal genetic markers and the short tandem repeat (STR) loci selected for building forensic DNA databases, and specifies the file format, data structure and rules for exchanging data between the national database and external systems.

It defines terms such as locus, allele, short tandem repeat and repeat region sequence, and refers to GB/T 2312 and GB 18030 for Chinese character encoding.

It is meant for those who build forensic DNA databases and for the designers, developers and testers of connected systems such as DNA laboratory management information systems and DNA data analysis software. It was issued on 31 December 2021 and has applied since 1 January 2023.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1. Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.

1 Scope

This document presents the types of human chromosomal genetic markers and the short tandem repeats selected for the establishment of forensic DNA databases.

Complex sequence locus; specifies the file format, data structure and basis for data exchange between the National Forensic Science DNA Database and external systems this requirement.

This document is applicable to the construction of forensic science DNA database and the external system for data exchange with forensic science DNA database (such as DNA laboratory management information system, DNA data analysis software, etc.) design, development and testing.

2 Normative references

The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. 3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Locus

The location occupied by a gene on a chromosome or a segment of genomic DNA. [Source: GB/T 37226-2018, 2.2]

3.2 Allele

Different forms of genes located at the same location on a pair of homologous chromosomes.

3.3 Short tandem repeat; STR

One class is widely present in eukaryotic genomes, and the repeat unit is usually composed of 2 to 6 bases, and the number of repeats is usually 5~60 DNA tandem repeats.

Note: In the human genome, according to the type of chromosome, it is divided into autosomal STR, Y chromosome STR and X chromosome STR.

3.4 Repeat region sequence

The part of the short tandem repeat (3.3) consisting of repeat units in tandem, generally from the 5' end of the first repeat unit to the last repeat unit. Sequence of the 3' end of the complex unit.
