Scope
GB/T 40882-2021 is the English-translated version of 第三代核电站主管道锻件 工艺规范.
GB/T 40882-2021 is the Chinese national process specification for making the blank forgings of the main pipes used in third-generation nuclear power plants. It applies to austenitic stainless steel main pipe forgings with a main section size, covering pipe diameter and nozzle height, of 250 mm to 2000 mm and a length of 1500 mm to 10000 mm.
It sets out the forging process flow for the two structural forms, with and without nozzles, through pressing jaws, rounding, upsetting, drawing, blanking, nozzle pre-forming and final forming, together with the process preparation rules.
Normative annexes cover machining allowances and the heating of ingots and billets below and above a surface temperature of 550 °C. Forge shops and nuclear equipment makers use it to plan production. It was issued on 26 November 2021 and has applied since 1 June 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
1 Scope
This document specifies the process flow and process compilation specifications for the third-generation nuclear power plant main pipe blank forgings (hereinafter referred to as "forgings").
This document is suitable for the main section size (including the diameter of the main pipe and the height of the nozzle) in the 250mm~2000mm, and the length size in the 1500mm~ 10000mm austenitic stainless steel forgings of the third-generation nuclear power plant main pipeline.
2 Normative references
The content of the following documents constitutes an indispensable clause of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated quotations Only the version corresponding to the date is applicable to this document; for undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB/T 8541 apply to this document.
3.1 Primary deformation heat
Deformation times of upsetting or stretching for the purpose of forging and compacting.
3.2 Blank dividing
Properly distribute the blanks to suit the process steps of the cross-sectional area and shape of the forging.
4 Process flow
According to the shape of the forging, it is divided into two structural forms with nozzle and without nozzle. The typical structure is shown in Figure 1. The forging process is as follows.
a) Forgings with nozzles. pressing jaws, spheronization, upsetting, drawing, blanking, pre-forming of nozzle materials, and final forging forming;
b) Forgings without nozzles. pressing jaws, rounding, upsetting, drawing, blanking, and final forging forming.
Note 1. Upsetting and drawing can be performed many times in the process flow of forgings with nozzles. The pressing jaws, rounding and upsetting steps in the process flow of forgings without nozzles can be based on actual conditions. Choose whether to implement the actual situation.
Note 2. The billet making steps in the process flow can be made into solid forging billets or hollow forging billets according to the different forging process methods adopted by various manufacturers.
