Scope
GB/T 40245-2021 is the English-translated version of 废弃防腐木材回收规范.
GB/T 40245-2021 sets the rules for recovering waste preservative-treated wood, that is, treated timber that has reached the end of its service life or lost its original use and is discarded.
It defines the key terms, among them hazardous waste treated wood, which contains inorganic preservatives such as chromium and arsenic compounds, creosote or pentachlorophenol, and sets out the classification, the general requirements, the recovery and treatment steps and the records to be kept.
Recovery here covers collection, pre-sorting, dismantling, transport and storage. The requirements refer to national standards on safety signs, environmental quality, emissions and solid waste storage, and to GB/T 22529-2008 and LY/T 3032-2018 on waste wood.
It applies to the management of waste treated-wood recovery, was issued on 21 May 2021 and has applied since 1 September 2021.

1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, classification, general requirements, recycling and treatment, and records of waste anticorrosive wood recycling.
This document is applicable to the recycling management of waste anti-corrosion wood.
