GB/T 37268-2018 is the English-translated version of 建筑用光伏遮阳板.
China's national standard for photovoltaic shading panels used on buildings. It specifies the terms and definitions, the classification and marking, the general requirements, the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking and packaging. The panel is a building component and a generator at once: fixed as a brise-soleil above a window or across a facade, it shades the glass from high summer sun while generating electricity from the light it intercepts. That combination is the most economically defensible form of building integrated photovoltaics, because the shading has a value of its own - it reduces the cooling load, which in a Chinese summer is substantial - so the panel earns twice. What makes it a distinct product from a roof module is that it is a structural element in a public place: it must resist wind uplift, it must not fall, and if it breaks it must break safely, which is why it is generally laminated glass rather than the glass-and-backsheet construction of an ordinary module.
