GB/T 36057-2018 is the Chinese national method for determining the ash content of forestry biomass feedstocks such as wood and bamboo.
The ash is found by heating a sample in air under closely controlled conditions of time, sample mass, equipment and a temperature of (550 ± 10) °C, and is expressed as the residue as a percentage of the dry sample mass.
The standard describes the apparatus, including a programmable muffle furnace with a set ventilation rate, a sample container of inert material, a balance reading to 0.1 mg, a desiccator, a drying oven held at (105 ± 2) °C and an electric furnace.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for the determination of ash in forestry biomass raw materials.
This standard applies to the determination of ash content in forestry biomass raw materials such as wood and bamboo.

3 Principle
In the strict control of time, sample quality, equipment specifications, temperature (550 ± 10) °C and other conditions, by measuring the sample heated in the air The ash content was determined as the percentage of post-residues as a percentage of the total dry sample mass.
4 Instruments and Devices
4.1 Muffle furnace
It is required to have temperature-programmed control, to reach the specified temperature within a specified time, and to maintain a constant temperature. The ventilation rate in the muffle furnace is 5 to 10 times per minute to satisfy the lack of oxygen in the combustion process of the biomass feedstock during the heating process.
4.2 Ash dish
Made of inert material, the size of the sample after loading into the sample, the bottom density of the sample is not more than 0.1g/cm².
4.3 Balance
Sensing amount 0.1mg.
4.4 Dryer
A desiccator equipped with a blue discolored silica gel or granular anhydrous calcium chloride desiccant.
4.5 Drying oven
With automatic temperature control and air blowing device, the temperature can be controlled within the range of (105 ± 2) °C.
