Scope
GB/T 35883-2018 is the English-translated version of 冰糖.
GB/T 35883-2018 is the Chinese product standard for rock sugar made from white sugar or raw sugar. It defines rock sugar as large crystals obtained by redissolving, purifying and recrystallizing sugar, and distinguishes single crystal rock sugar from polycrystalline rock sugar, which comes in white and yellow varieties.
The standard sets the grades for each type, sensory requirements such as uniform grains, dry and shiny surfaces and no sandy core, and physical and chemical requirements, with testing to QB/T 5010.
It also covers inspection rules, labelling to GB 7718, packaging, transport and storage, and net content checks to JJF 1070. Sugar producers and inspection bodies use it to classify and accept rock sugar. It was issued on 6 February 2018 and has applied since 1 September 2018.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and labels, packaging, transportation and storage of rock sugar.
This standard applies to rock sugar produced from white sugar or raw sugar in the sugar industry.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Rock sugar
The sugar was re-dissolved, purified and recrystallized to obtain large-grained crystalline sugar. There are two kinds of single crystal rock sugar and polycrystalline rock sugar.
3.2 Single crystal rock sugar
Single crystals of large particles (about 1.5 g to 2.0 g each) rock sugar.
3.3 Polycrystalline rock sugar
A large piece of crystal sugar made of many crystals. According to the color can be divided into white rock sugar and yellow rock sugar two.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Level
