Scope
GB/T 35884-2018 is the English-translated version of 赤砂糖.
GB/T 35884-2018 is the Chinese national product standard for brown granulated sugar made directly or indirectly from sugar cane, sugar beet or raw sugar. It divides the product into grade one and grade two on the basis of its physical and chemical properties and sets the sensory requirements for colour, taste and black specks.
The physical and chemical limits cover total sugar, loss on drying and water-insoluble impurities, while food safety requirements refer to GB 13104. The standard also gives the test methods, based on QB/T 2343.2, the inspection rules and the requirements for labelling, packaging, transport and storage, with net content checked under JJF 1070.
It is used by sugar producers, packers and inspection bodies. It was issued on 6 February 2018 and has applied since 1 September 2018.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and labeling, packaging, transportation and storage requirements for red sugar.
This standard applies to sugar in sugar cane, sugar beet or raw sugar for the production of direct or indirect raw sugar.

3 Technical requirements
3.1 Level
The sugar is divided into two grades, grade one and grade two according to the requirements of physical and chemical requirements.
3.2 Sensory requirements
Red sugar is brownish-red or brownish-brown, sweet and slightly sweetened with molasses, with a small number of black spots greater than 0.2mm in length per square meter of surface area In 15
