1 Scope

China's national specification for non-road mechanical drive wide-body dump trucks powered by internal combustion engines. It specifies the terms and definitions, the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport, storage and accompanying documents. The wide-body dumper is a Chinese answer to a Chinese problem: a truck built for the haul roads of open pit mines and large earthworks, wider and heavier than a highway tipper but far cheaper than a rigid mining truck, and carrying between about thirty and ninety tonnes. It occupies the gap in which a road-legal truck is destroyed within months and a proper mining truck cannot be justified. Because it descends from the road truck rather than from mining equipment, the specification has work to do: the chassis, axles and brakes have to be rated for a duty cycle of continuous overload on unmade surfaces, and the standard sets out what that rating means and how it is demonstrated.
