Scope
GB/T 33940-2017 is the English-translated version of 机械安全 安全设计与精益制造指南.
GB/T 33940-2017 is the Chinese national guide to safety design and lean manufacturing in the safety of machinery.
It gives guidance on combining safety design with lean manufacturing in machinery and production systems so as to cut harm and waste and to improve safety and quality, and it applies to the joint application of safety design and lean practice with the aim of reducing waste and risk in machinery and production systems.
It covers lean manufacturing and its methods, lean improvement practice with examples of conflict between lean and safety, lean and risk, safety and lean solutions in management and in the process model, risk assessment, successful cases (an electric bending machine, a deburring machine and a folding controller), the points to consider when designing for safety and lean, and five informative annexes on planning, process design, tools and equipment and workplace loading and unloading equipment.
Under the A, B and C structure of the machinery safety standards it is, according to GB/T 15706, a type B standard. It defines lean manufacturing, 5S, kaizen, kanban, pull and six sigma.
It cites GB/T 15706-2012 and GB/T 16856. It carries ICS 13.110 and Chinese classification J09, was issued on 12 July 2017 and has applied since 1 February 2018.

Foreword
This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
Introduction
Lean Manufacturing Increases productivity (better and faster) by reducing waste, reducing costs, and complicating the manufacturing process.
Various programs, techniques and methods. However, the excessive pursuit of lean manufacturing, will cause misuse of lean manufacturing methods, which will give Personnel safety and lean manufacturing goals bring significant risks. Safety is lean manufacturing trying to get better, faster, more economical, and more secure A key element of the process of benefit. In the lean manufacturing concept only focus on mechanical safety, security will be integrated into the lean manufacturing, the combination of the two, Complement each other, take into account each other is the enterprise to achieve safe production, reduce production costs, improve work efficiency and production efficiency of the important way. this Standard put forward the concept of mechanical safety design and lean manufacturing simultaneously, and give practical application of the case. The mechanical safety standards are structured as follows.
- Class A standards (basic safety standards), given the basic concepts, design principles and general characteristics applicable to all machinery.
- Class B standard (general safety standard), a safety feature involving a mechanical or a wider range of safety devices.
- Class B1, specific safety features (eg safety distance, surface temperature, noise) standard;
- B2 class, safety devices (such as two-hand control device, interlock device, pressure-sensitive devices, protective devices) standard.
- Class C standards (machine safety standards) that specify a detailed safety requirement for a particular machine or group of machines.
According to GB/T 15706, this standard belongs to class B standard.
1 Scope
This standard gives a combination of safety design and lean manufacturing in mechanical equipment and production systems, reducing damage and waste, improving performance. Full and quality guide.
This standard applies to the application of safety design and lean manufacturing practice, to minimize the mechanical equipment and production systems phase Off the waste and risk.

3 Terms and definitions
GB/T 15706-2012 Definitions and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Lean manufacturing
In the production process, through the use of a variety of technical and management tools to achieve waste reduction, reduce costs and complexity of a production the way.
3.2 5S
Used to help identify and eliminate the various forms of wasteful repeatable five-step process, including sort, sort-in-order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
Note: As the five-step process of English corresponding to the first letter of the word by the beginning of S, known as 5S management.
3.3 Improve
A method of continuous improvement by identifying and eliminating waste and unnecessary non-added value activities.
3.4 Kanban
The process requirements, production processes or product needs and other information through such as board, screen and other carriers intuitive expression, to achieve real-time operations Of a working method.
3.5 Pull
In the entire production system to customer demand-driven, rational allocation of workload, to create a customer satisfaction products, a production process.
3.6 Six sigma
A quality management method based on mathematical statistics control with the goal rate of not more than 3 million points.
