Scope

GB/T 33569-2017 is the English-translated version of 户外用木材涂饰表面人工老化试验方法.

GB/T 33569-2017 is the Chinese test method for the artificial weathering of coatings on exterior wood. The exposure is run in equipment that combines fluorescent lamps emitting ultraviolet light with condensation and water spray, and the method serves to judge how the coated surface of outdoor wood behaves under artificial ageing.

Clause 3 defines the terms the result is reported in: the control specimen that all others are compared with, peeling of one coat from the coat below it or of the whole coating from the substrate, cracking caused by surface ageing, chalking as the loose fine powder left by the breakdown of binder and pigment, and adhesion as the firmness between film and coated surface.

It cites GB/T 4893.4-2013, GB/T 11186.2 and GB/T 33568-2017. It was issued on 12 May 2017 and has applied since 1 December 2017.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Control

Select the sample to be used as a reference value. All other samples are compared with them.

3.2 Peeling

One or more of the coating is separated from its lower coating, or the coating is completely separated from the substrate.

3.3 Cracking

The appearance of cracks in the paint film caused by surface aging.

3.4 Powder chalking

The surface of the paint film due to its degradation of one or more of the paint base and the decomposition of the pigment, showing the phenomenon of loose adhesion of fine powder.
